My e-bike was stolen; they cut the bike rack at work, which would require power tools. I get so disheartened with today’s society. I try to stay a good man and advocate for those in need, however, thieves with power tools are not in need. Now, the joy of finishing a user-unfriendly police report, then hoping my tenant’s insurance will cover some of it. I wrote the following especially for those who took my bike._Lingering Rancor_

Liars and thieves
Impersonating good men
In their rancid world
Where dignity
Has no place

smelling of beer and sex

No friends
No tomorrow
— sickened souls, empty
Holy books turn away
As mothers shake
Their heads —

It’s not their fault —
God takes notes
I don’t have to

Unwanted children leave
Lingering rancor
