Smoke and Scriptures
**Smoke and Scripture**
Goodness does not require God. It requires compassion, justice, equality, empathy. On the contrary evil needs no malevolent force, it needs jealousy, pride and ignorance.
Yet we built
Centuries of smoke and scripture
Created
To devolve
Any responsibility,
Excusing a world where wealth punishes
The downtrodden,
Where comfort gains a sanctimonious throne,
Letting want go free
While ignorance pervades the land.
