 I, the Necromancer

A letter to my reader

To be able to sit, ponder, and think is a rare thing, it seems.

I look out on a world that moves too fast to sit and feel.

I have an oasis in my writing. Somehow I channeled all that anger into this book.

_Nathan in the Mists_ is a collection of 25 pieces covering grief, love, loneliness, eternity, and time. In these pages I often played the necromancer, trying any way to speak to my son again. I tried to bargain with the cosmos, receiving an icy stare as my reward.

I think we are all a necromancer at one time or another on this grief journey. Hope against hope that something will give and we can fix this.

It was not until I accepted the fact he was gone that grief finally became a partner. My essence was no longer fighting me. If you’ve ever tried to bargain with the cosmos too, maybe you’ll find yourself in these pages. Maybe you’ll stop fighting grief and learn to carry it.

I had to figure out that two dead men won’t raise one.

This book is my office. Come sit with me.

Many blessings,

Jerrod R. Whitman
